Strongman Training
Without the shouting! Lifting heavy, awkward shit is for everyone!
Strongman Training That’s Actually for Humans
Strongman training is basically picking up awkward objects and figuring out what to do with them. Hopefully you have a bit of an idea before you actually pick them up!
Stones. Bags. Other heavy things. Things that don’t have handles where you want them.
For me, strongman isn’t about yelling (except with support, hilarious comments etc :), maxing out every session or pretending you’re in a competition (unless it’s the sparkly Queerstrong events).
It’s about building real, usable strength — the kind that makes everyday life feel easier, less of a pain in the bum!
What Is Strongman Training?
Strongman focuses on:
carrying heavy things
lifting odd-shaped objects
loading, dragging, pushing and pulling
strength that works outside the gym - old school rugged stuff
Unlike barbell-only training, strongman:
challenges grip and posture
builds full-body coordination
rewards problem-solving
teaches you how to move load, not just lift it
It’s strength with context. You move more than just barbells and dumbbells
Some of it is steeped in history - like stone lifting. Other stuff is random and modern (carrying fridges! and not because you bought one and the van broke down)
You do not need to:
be huge, strong already or have competed. You don’t need to have a clue what you’re doing at first! That’s where I come in.
Strongman is scalable:
loads can be lighter or heavier, distances shorter or longer, movements simplified or progressed
Most people are surprised by how accessible it actually is.
