Life can be as tough as you make it. City life can weigh you down, leading us to stress over progress and push ourselves too hard, which can cause burnout. Many of us also deal with distractions like body image issues, lack of confidence, and unfounded fears that hold us back.
If you train with me we’ll be leaving all that crap behind thank you very much!

Fascia acts like cling film, holding muscles, bones, and tendons in place. Anatomy Trains shows fascia lines linking muscle groups, so a restriction in one spot can affect another. I assess bodies and movements holistically, using manual bodywork and targeted exercises to fix imbalances along these fascial lines.

These are wooden clubs that are rooted in the cultures of India and Iran. They were used to train warriors to hold and fight with swords. They come in many shapes and sizes and they’re very technical but so much fun.
One of the many things I like about them is the fact they challenge strength, mobility and co-ordination in so many ways. In fascial training terms they’re superb as most movements require integration of multiple fascial lines at once. I genuinely believe that training with these tools barely feels like working out because they’re so engaging.

From the same culture as the meels in Iran, these shields were literally used to train people to hold shields going into battle. Now part of the Zurkhaneh ritual/martial art, all the key movements with these involve pressing off the chest but in a variety of beautiful and interesting ways.

Invented in the early 2000s by Ivan Ivanov for the USA Olympic wrestling team, these leather croissant shaped bags were used to mimic throwing opponents. The shape is based on the ancient tradition of chucking a lamb on one’s shoulders! There’s even a movement called a lamb swing. Like the clubs, they challenge the whole body in various planes of motion. They’re incredible for all round strength and conditioning and grip endurance. We now hold annual competitions here at The Commando Temple!

Strongman is fluid as a sport. Essentially anything that involves brute strength and the ability to carry, drag, pick up heavy objects can be considered a strongman event.
Elements of ancient strength traditions like stone lifting come from many cultures all over the world and regularly feature in strongman. There are circus dumbbells from the Victorian era, but then there’s tyre flipping and car deadlifts from more recent times.
Always fun and good for a solid strength foundation, I especially enjoy running the regular Pride in Strength workshops - taking this brutal sport and covering it in glitter, fully encouraging trans and queer people to get into the sport. I also train people 121 in strongman!
I decided a long time ago to let go of such negative feelings. I want life to be easier. Less of a pain in the bum! Understanding how your body works helps a lot, and if you recognise that you’ve got overactive glutes you might just be able to address that bum pain!
You can build mental and physical strength by recognising and dealing with past issues held within your body. That’s what I do for my clients. I develop postural and movement awareness, whilst helping to move things along by working the fascia manually and through exercise and strengthening.
I educate clients in a number of disciplines working in a variety of movement planes, accessing multiple lines of fascia - from bodyweight and yoga movement patterns to ancient warrior tools - I’m one of very few people to train to a high level with meels and clubs, as well as offer Sang shield training in the UK.
Life is too short to worry about small things. It’s not worth stressing over what you can't change. I can help you focus on what you can control, and help you to feel more aware of your body and its needs.
Your journey with me will help you to realise you’re far more capable than you thought. Along with a bucket load of giggles you’ll feel more confident, empowered and absolutely delicious. My goal is to help you to get strong - both in terms of holding and controlling your own body, as well as moving external resistance. And move well: without pain - like a hench lizard.
“Everyone deserves to develop their strength, free from anxiety and stigma. This is my vision.”
Testimonials
I've been going to Commando Temple for the last 6 months and my only regret is not going sooner. Everyone there, from the trainers to the clients, is incredibly friendly. I've been made to feel very welcome. My trainer is Ben Savin and he is just the best. I started working with him to recover after a few injuries and he has got me moving again (and then some). Ben tailors everything to me and makes working out fun and motivating.
Thanks to him, l'm much stronger and more flexible than I was when I began. He's also a really nice guy and we laugh a lot together. Thanks Ben!
I’ve trained with Ben for over two years. He’s not only a brilliant coach but he’s a great guy. He makes training fun, varied and accessible. Ben has helped me alleviate long standing mobility issues. He has taught me how to use unique training equipment like clubs and maces which have not only helped me increase mobility but increase full body strength.
I've been having PT sessions with Ben Savin at the Commando Temple for 2 years and absolutely love it! All ages, genders and sizes welcome. They have amazing (weird and wonderful!) kit and a great team who know how to help you reach your goals.
Training with Ben at the temple is the best investment l've made in myself.
